The Algorithm
There is a battle going on in your life and there’s a chance you don’t even know. Algorithms, machines that were once created to help us, have become not just influencers of our lives but in some cases dictators.
Whether you realize it or not, anytime you interact with an algorithm (Social Media, Music and Video Recommendations, etc.) you are being subtly influenced to sacrifice your uniqueness and creativity in order to be a better cog in the machine for the algorithm. It does not see you as you, it sees you as a commodity. Are you ready to fight for yourself?
What is Post—Machine?
Post—Machine is a brand, experience, and movement. It exists to raise awareness, educate, and provide plans of action in relation to your self identity and the algorithm. The name comes from the latin word post meaning after. It is a reference to the outcome of the experience of Post—Machine, who will you be after the machine is gone? Separating yourself from the algorithm and deinfluencing your sense of self. It also references the coming movement of after the machine age. The tools we created to help us are beginning to use us, what will we do in response?
The GALLERY.
A primary arm of the Post—Machine mission is an ongoing gallery, both physical and digital. The first set of this gallery is presented by Post—Machine founder, Matthew Schultz. After researching the self and algorithm’s impact, he created 3 sets of conceptual self-portraits each relating to a layer of self. These sets include a True Self and an Algorithmic Self. This shows how the creator truly see each layer of their self as opposed to how they have identified how the algorithm has impacted their own experience in that layer of self. The SELF.
Who are you? A question that has plagued thinkers, philosopher, leaders, and just about every person who has ever existed. I have broken the self down into three layers, each describing a different aspect of the whole self.
The FRAMEWORK
Awareness and education is half the battle, but without an attack plan knowledge is useless. You have realized how the algorithm is influencing you, but how can you fight back? Post—Machine has created a framework that is repeatable and acts as a soft reset of your idea of self. Walk through the framework and reclaim your self.
